Android 16 expected to launch in Q2 2025; Beta 1 version to arrive as early as January

Date:

After launching Android 15 in October last year, Google is already paying attention to its next major update. In just a few months, the company is expected to begin rolling out the beta version of Android 16. Reports suggest that the first beta could arrive later this month. A new leak has also revealed the tentative release dates for subsequent beta versions, with the second and third expected to land in February and March, respectively. Although the official launch date for the stable version remains unconfirmed, this leak hints that Android 16 could be released sooner than Android 15.

Beta Version for Android 16

A recent leak from Android Authority reveals that Google plans to release Android 16 betas before the stable version. The information, found in an Android Gerrit comment, suggests Beta 3 will launch on March 12.

The leak indicates that Android 16’s first beta is set for January 22, though there’s been no official confirmation yet. Beta 2 is expected to arrive on February 19.

This new information suggests Android 16 could reach platform stability by mid-March, with Beta 4 potentially launching in April or May. A stable release might come before the end of Q2, earlier than Android 15’s mid-October rollout last year.
